A fantastic example of the Green River fish Knightia.
This is about as good as these fish get, truley a fine fossil fish specimen with fantastic preservation.
The Knightia is from the eocene period and is a double armoured fresh water herring, with large scutes along its back and belly.
Its fossils have been found in North America and China.
This is one of the best, and is great for display,or a fine collectors specimen, the fish rests on a very thick heavy matrix.
