A huge slab of scales from a Lepidotes fish.
This is a very large peice, and very rare at such a size.
The Lepidotes inhabited both freshwater lakes and shallow seas.
Lepidotes is thought to have been pray for large dinosaurs such as Baryonyx,as the scales of this fish have been found in the stomach region of a Baryonyx skeleton.
This peice is superb, with black glossy scales it makes both a great display fossil and a rare collectors specimen.
