A fine example of the lower lias ammonite Xiphoceras.
The Xiphoceras is a slightly spiney species of ammonite from the lower lias beds, much more uncommon than its other zone ammonite promicroceras these are becoming hard to find at this location.
This ammonite is preserved in lovely yellow calcite and makes a great display peice,or collectors specimen.
Of interest is a calcite vein running through the matrix, also this peice has a cut base for ease of display.
